Meet John Kotsopoulos, a vital member of the CXANZ pre-sales team. Across ANZ, John collaborates with both customers and partners to deliver technical guidance, enablement, and hands-on support throughout the Citrix ecosystem.
John plays an active role in helping partners and customers tackle complex technical challenges, design effective solutions, and achieve the right outcomes. Working closely with Partner Account Managers and Account Executives, he bridges strategy and execution to ensure success at every stage.
John’s path into IT wasn’t a straight line. After completing Year 12, he initially enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) before realising it wasn’t where his passion lay.
“I’ve been fascinated by computers from a very young age,” John explains.
A pivotal conversation with a university professor changed his direction, guiding him to Information Systems within the Faculty of Business. The degree included an internship, while completing his final year of his degree, a turning point that laid the foundation for his career in technology.
“I haven’t looked back since.”
Like many in the industry, John began his career in first and second level support, gaining real-world experience early on. While completing his studies, he worked at Hewlett Packard, supporting the consumer market and resolving everyday technical issues from printers to software challenges.
“You’ve got to start somewhere,” he says.
From there, John progressed through systems engineering roles and into architecture positions, eventually moving into service providers such as CGI and Logicalis. These roles helped shape his deep technical background and customer centric approach.
John spent nearly five years at Citrix in a pre-sales engineering role, gaining deep insight into the ecosystem. When the opportunity arose to join Dicker Data, it felt like a natural next step, one that evolved alongside the creation of CXANZ.
“The transition was really rewarding,” John says. “It gave me a deeper understanding of what it takes to enable partners and customers to support their success.”
Today, John continues to do what he does best: empowering partners and customers within a more flexible, partner-focused model.
For John, the most rewarding part of his role is collaboration.
“Working with the team to achieve the right outcome for both partners and customers,” he says, “is incredibly satisfying. Everyone has a role to play, and it’s great when it all comes together.”
Making processes easier, removing friction, and supporting progress are at the heart of how John approaches his work every day.
John emphasises that CXANZ exists to support partners and customers helping remove roadblocks rather than create them.
“It’s about understanding requirements, having open conversations, and enabling partners and customers to achieve their goals efficiently,” he says.
John highlights the broader Citrix ecosystem and the opportunities it presents from enhanced security and endpoint strategies to observability and performance insights.
“There’s more to talk about than just traditional Citrix use cases.”
John’s advice is simple and hard earned.
“If you can find something you’re passionate about and bring that into your work life, you’re halfway there.”
While not always easy, finding enjoyment in what you do makes the journey far more rewarding.
Outside of work, fitness is a big part of John’s life. He’s completed a half marathon in Melbourne and continues to train regularly, staying active and getting his family involved too.
“My fitness has had a huge impact on me,” he says, “and is critical to my wellbeing, helping me show up fully for my family, support our partners and customers, and bring energy and focus to all areas of life.”
